Editorial standards

Cost content

• Every cost figure is presented as a range with stated assumptions and exclusions. We do not publish single-number prices.
• Every calculator page carries the date its cost data was last reviewed. Where we have not reviewed something recently, the date says so rather than being refreshed automatically.
• We do not add a year to a page title to make it look current. If the content has not been revised, the date does not change.
• Where a cost cannot honestly be estimated without an inspection, we show an allowance and label it as one.
• Read the full calculation methodology for how the numbers are built.

Safety and professional advice

• Where a project has a structural, electrical, gas or environmental safety dimension, our content says so explicitly and identifies the professional who should be involved.
• We do not present a cost calculator as a substitute for an inspection, and we do not describe any building as safe based on its construction alone.
• We do not make engineering claims we cannot support, and we do not use absolute language like “-proof” about anything a storm, fire or flood can damage.

Contractor listings

• We do not create fictional contractor profiles. Every listing corresponds to a real business record.
• We do not generate reviews. Where a rating originates from a third-party source, we do not present it as an Estimero review or mark it up as first-party review data.
• Contractor contact details are not published openly. They are revealed to a homeowner who has actively requested contact.
• A licence, insurance or bonding badge reflects what is recorded for that business. It is not a warranty by Estimero — always verify credentials directly before hiring.
• Location pages are only indexed when they meet a documented quality threshold based on verified contractors, genuine local data and unique content. We do not publish thousands of generated city pages to occupy search results.

How lead sharing works

• Using a calculator never shares anything with a contractor. Calculators work without an account, an email address or a phone number.
• Your details are shared with contractors only when you submit a quote request and consent to that sharing at the point of submission.
• Contractors pay Estimero for qualified leads. That is how the free calculators are funded, and you should know it when you read our contractor recommendations.
• We do not sell contact details to third parties outside the contractor matching you requested. See the privacy policy for the full detail.

What we will not publish

• Invented local pricing presented as researched local data
• Fabricated reviews, testimonials, credentials or project photographs
• Author biographies for people who do not exist, or credentials nobody holds
• Manufactured urgency — countdown timers or fake scarcity on estimates
• “Best of” rankings that are actually paid placement without disclosure
• Text hidden from users but visible to search engines

Corrections policy

When we get something wrong, we fix it and update the review date on the affected page. Substantive corrections to cost data are reflected in the calculator’s “last reviewed” date so you can see the figures have moved.
