What does a typical home improvement project cost?
Most single-room projects land between $3,000 and $30,000. A bathroom remodel typically runs $9,000–$28,000, a kitchen $20,000–$50,000, a roof replacement $9,000–$25,000 and a home addition $45,000–$160,000. Scope moves these figures more than anything else — a refresh is roughly a third of a full-scope job.

How the estimate is produced
Each project category carries a national cost band for a standard-scope version of that work. Your scope selection scales that band — a minor refresh is roughly 35–55 % of standard, a major or high-specification job 150–210 %.
If you supply a ZIP code, a single regional labour multiplier is applied: about 1.22× in high-cost metropolitan areas, 0.85× in lower-cost regions, and 1.0× elsewhere. We use three broad bands rather than per-ZIP pricing because we do not hold licensed per-ZIP labour rate data, and we will not present invented figures as local pricing.
Figures are rounded to a precision that matches their confidence — to the nearest $100 in the thousands, the nearest $1,000 above six figures. A calculated-looking number like “$18,437” implies precision that a two-question estimate cannot support.
